From The Thorpes

Hello Family!

We hope everyone is doing well and that your summers are going to be fun filled! We have been busy with our summer vacation plans! The very last weekend of the May, Susannah went to Newport beach with a college roommate to hang out and have time with the girlies! Another roommate was supposed to come, but sadly was unable to, after her grandmother died. We ended up having a good time, and it was fun to catch up with each other!! The following weekend, we went to Las Vegas. We flew out on Sunday, but decided to stay closer to the airport the night before our flight to make the traveling easy (so I thought). Kevin had other ideas up his sleeve. On the way down to Sunnyvale, he picked an Andrea Bocelli CD to listen to. He started this whole dialogue about how he had read in the paper that because Andrea Bocelli was only going to 6 cities on this tour that all the tickets were sold super fast, and that if you wanted tickets now, you could get them on Ebay for extreme amounts of money. He let me sit and ponder that for a while then tossed an envelope at me! Much to my sheer delight and pleasure, he had bought tickets to his San Jose Concert months and months ahead of time. The show was phenomenal! He did an amazing job and had guest singers in, who did very well too! I thought there was no way that our trip to Las Vegas could top that! We flew to Las Vegas the next morning and checked into our hotel. We did a lot of walking, went in and out of all the hotel casinos, watched the Bellagio fountains, and went downtown. As we were walking though the casino of our hotel, I decided to sit down and learn how to play mini Paigow poker. I placed my bet, which was $5. I was dealt my cards and to my utter shock and amazement, I ended up with a Royal flush! The Payout was 250-1. So I ended up winning $1250. We left the table and decided that we would use the money to buy Lion King tickets. That show was amazing, and we would recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet! We also decided that since we had the big win that we wanted to go to a cirque du soleil show, and bought tickets for Mystere. That was also a fabulous show!! The whole time there we were walking and staying busy. Now that we are home we cant figure out what to do at night to entertain ourselves!!! Our trip was a great one, where we were spoiled! We ended up bringing home lots of money too, so that was nice!! We are looking forward to going to see Wicked in San Francisco at the end of this month! We bought these tickets in December, as a special treat for each other for the summer! Now we feel totally cultured after 4 amazing shows in one month! How will we survive living like commoners for the rest of the summer? Our other fun trip coming up is to go to Southern California, for the first ever Thorpe Family Reunion, in July. Kevins parents have rented a beach house that is on a private beach. It has a ton of rooms, so all couples and some of the kids will have their own space. There will be a big kitchen and we will all take turns cooking meals for everyone! It should be a lot of fun! Everyone is talking about going to Sea World, and maybe on a dolphin experience, as well as tons of beach time and time spent being together! It also helps that I absolutely love his family!! We are eager to hear about all the fun experiences you will all be having this summer as well as seeing pictures! We love you!!Susannah and Kevin Thorpe
